VW ADZ Powerless

Hello. I am from Sweden and own a VW Vento 1997 ADZ.
I hope that it will work fine that I write in english. You can write in German if you want. I can use googletranslate.

The engine is power less. The car is very slow.

0-100 goes in like 22 seconds.
Should go in 12,7 according to this?

https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/VW_Vento

When you hit like 120 - 125 km/h the car wont go any faster.

Checked things:
* Timing belt is correct
* Ignition is right. Both on oil pump gear and in live data on the computer connected on to the car.
* No air leaks or bad vaccum hoses.
* All service parts are changed. Fuel filter. Air filter. Sparkplugs. Ignition parts.
* No error codes on computer
* Engine coolant temperature sensor changed
* Fuel delivery is OK. About 1,5L/60sec.
* Catalytic converter checked. See pictures.
* Central injection checked with resistance with Autodata reference.
* "Upper" part of fuel injection changed.
* Central injection flange/gasket on intake changed. https://www.mekonomen.se/systemmedia...gasarflans.jpg

Spark plugs are white. Running lean?

Catalytic konverter:

0-100 Km/h with the catalytic converter deleted. Slow start on studded winter tyres:

100% throttle all the time.

Any more suggestions? Running out of ideas.

Thank you!

I will swear your problems are away when you swap your ignition coil. I had this problem also a year ago. I recommend not to buy the cheapest one. Beru is good.

Ignition coil changed out. No difference.
Spark plug wires changed out also. No difference.

Any more suggestions? ::frage::

Are there error codes in the ECU? Which gearbox is mounted?

No error codes.

Gearbox is stock. Haveīnt checked for any numbers.

Picture of the spark plugs:

White. Looks like lean to me...

Feels like a fuel delivery problem. I will change the fuel pump and change the fuel filter again...

Stock.. Okay.. Manual or Automatic?

I would check the Fuel Pressure. Just to be sure

Manual.

Haveīnt got a fuel pressure gauge. Iīm gonna try to borrow one.

Hi,

your spark plugs are too white for my taste. Moreover, two of them should be more black then the others (itīs because due to the lambda control, there are always two cylinders which have either too much fuel or too less).

What is your usual fuel consumption? I would check if the lambda value is fine. Test three use-cases (the temperature of the coolant should have reached 90°C. Check that value with the diagnostic, not with the dashboard):
- Engine in idle. What is the mean value? It should be around 1. Observe the value for at least 30s.
- Hold a 2500 RPM with the throttle opened at max 70°. Value should first be < 1 and then remain at about 1. You can test this while standing. Do that for about 30s.
- Speed up to a certain speed. RPM should be above 2500 RPM. Then release the throttle. The lamba value should stay fixed at 1 for RPMs above 1800.

If your values are in average higher than 1.02, then there is not enough fuel. If it is below 0.9, then there is too much fuel. If lambda stays always at 1, then the measurement does not work. Either the sensor or a cable is broken.

Thank you for your help. I will check that.

I have also bought a working VW Golf 3 1997 parts car. It runs great.
Massive difference in power between the Golf and the Vento.

Exhaust system changed with a small difference. Makes 0-100 in about 18 seconds now.
But they manifold was completely white when I changed the exhaust.

But Iīm thinking about the return from central injection. Maybe something wrong there?

Anyone that know what the pressure on the return hose from central injection should be?

Ignition is right.

Have you adjusted the ignition timing via Laptop/Software while the ECU was set to Basic-Setting-Mode? Because from what I can see in your video recording, it seems to me that the ignition timing might be incorrect.

Does the engine idle properly?

No I have not done that. But the ignition timing is correct according to spec. in Autodata.

Idle is perfect. Ignition timing on idle is 6-7.
Advanced timing on open throttle is about 23-27 before TDC.

Ok, that seems fine.

As a next step, could you please check the value for the throttle valve angle with your software when the accelerator pedal is pressed to its maximum position? Just to make sure that thereīs nothing wrong with the ajustment of the throttle cable or the potentiometer.
